Tips For Writing Essays - Exploring Themes Between 1750-1800
Tips For Writing Essays - Exploring Themes Between 1750-1800Reading popular essays from the past can be very challenging, and many students struggle with how to start from different essays in order to fit together topics between 1750-1800. Although essays were originally made to give college students an opportunity to read closely between books, today it is possible to read between two and four essays from different writers per semester. This means that students will need to read several essays on various topics before they have a chance to make sense of the different writings. The key to this puzzle is to have a good base of topics from which to work. Even if you are doing this by reading one essay from one writer, you should still find several themes throughout the text. Additionally, if you are reading multiple essays by different authors, you should compare some points of contention in each essay. By finding commonalities in ideas between essays, you can begin to see how to work t he text into themes. One way to determine the themes between different writers is to read at least three essays that each have slightly different topics. You can then compare the various essays for themes in their writing. You can do this by looking for 'follow the white rabbit' moments or something similar such as a narrator becoming intoxicated. This method does not always work, however, because of the way different writers vary the length of their sentences. One essay may have five minutes long, while another may have two and a half. Knowing this, you can use this method to compare passages from different essays and put together the theme of each text.Another method of working through the different essays is to read from each author's writing to figure out how the theme begins. The best way to accomplish this is to figure out the beginning of the theme in the first sentence of each piece of writing. Many writers use phrases such as 'it started when', which can help you locate the b eginning of the theme.During the middle of the sentence, the writer will use phrases such as 'always'always has been'. These will show you where the theme is likely to begin, as well as help you determine the specific passage that you will find the theme in. Just as you can work between several essays in this manner, you can also work in the middle of each essay by finding the basic theme and translating that to the essay's first paragraph. The same technique can be used during the second or third passage and on through the different essays in order to determine the main theme. Because you are dealing with many essays, you should try to be as systematic as possible, especially when you are reading different writers. It is important to study the same themes among different writers for the sake of making sense of the writing. However, despite using this technique to trace the themes between different essays, it may still be necessary to read several essays side by side for them to make sense. Students often find themselves drawn to certain works of art or writers and when they combine multiple essays from several writers together, they may find a theme. You should be careful to stick to the main theme, but to never lose sight of the unique element that makes each piece of writing unique.
